NIMROD Agreement Form

One of the stated goals of the NIMROD project is that the code be open source; i.e., the source code is freely available to the U.S. fusion community with freedom to modify it for their research.

Because NIMROD was funded by the U.S. government, the NIMROD team is under no obligation to provide the code to foreign researchers. Foreign researchers wishing to use the NIMROD code need to first establish a collaboration with a NIMROD team member. The NIMROD team will then coordinate the collaboration with the U.S. Department of Energy.

Before having access to the source, you must agree to the following conditions, consistent with the U.S. Department of Energy guidelines, that serve as additional protections for the NIMROD code.

Terms of Agreement

  1. Modifications made to NIMROD by the users of the code will be provided to the NIMROD team.
  2. It is understood that the NIMROD code is still under development and thus may not contain the physics or features that all user's need/want for their problem of interest.
  3. It is understood that the NIMROD team does not guarantee that support will always be available to users of the code. In addition, it is understood that extensive support from a NIMROD team member generally implies that published work will include that team member(s) as co-author.

  4. The NIMROD code will not be passed onto third parties.
  5. Publications or figures made with the NIMROD code will acknowledge the NIMROD code.
  6. Any paper being submitted for publication to a professional publication using NIMROD results must be sent to the NIMROD team at the time of submission. All input files and experimental data analyzed using NIMROD for this publication are to be provided upon request.

To provide motivation, #1 is our open-source license. Numbers 2 - 3 are statements that providing the code does not necessarily imply supporting the code. Numbers 4 - 6 are that we expect users to treat the NIMROD team with respect as fellow members of the scientific community, and what that implies.

If you agree to the above terms and would like to download the NIMROD code, please fill out this form and either FAX it to U.S. 303-448-7756; ATTN: Anne Hammond or Ted Sume Nzuonkwelle or scan a signed copy of the form and EMAIL it to the Tech-X system administrators (contact). Please also CC Jacob King (contact) and Scott Kruger (contact). Email is preferred.
